Who am I?

I'm Alexander Velky, and this is my website. I'm a writer from the UK. Born in The City of a Thousand Trades (AKA Birmingham), I've spent most of my life in Wales.

I've been an English teacher, a music journalist, a wine blogger, a web editor, a social media community manager, and a copywriter. For 12 years from 2012 I was a freelancer, working remotely with occasional contract jobs and in-house stints at agencies and big companies.

I have one wife, two daughters, and three small dogs. I keep chickens and goats, and in summer I grow vegetables to feed the slugs. Every now and then, I publish a book of poetry. Over 2024 and 2025, I'm serialising my memoirs on this website's blog.
