I worked as a web editor at boutique London agency Authority Communications for three years (first part time, then full time) between 2007 – 2010.
The agency was responsible for managing websites, fan communities, and social media profiles, and providing content for many artists under the Warner and Universal major label umbrellas (as well as for a few smaller independent labels, and a few music festivals and occasional associated movie releases).
My role began as general web editorial assistance – writing and editing news stories, updating profiles with tour dates, coding HTML e-mailers and providing and testing MySpace page designs across different browsers, etc. Over the years, as the agency branched out from websites, MySpace and Bebo profiles into Facebook and Twitter, etc., I also took on the bulk of the social media work: moderating comments, interacting with fans on behalf of management, providing reports on social media sentiment, and liaising with community leaders who were running forums.
Some of the labels' artists we did regular work for include The Courteeners, Florence and the Machine, Duffy, Ellie Goulding, Elbow, Mika, Morrissey, Paolo Nutini and Paul Weller.
Alas, as I left this role a good few years before going freelance midway through 2012 I have no useful screen-shots of the sites or profiles I managed as they were at the time.
